Our Approach to Funding

The Osteopathic Heritage Foundations seek to positively impact the health and quality of life for vulnerable populations in central and southeastern Ohio. To accomplish this goal, the Foundations strategically invest in community-based initiatives in targeted communities and advancements in osteopathic medical care, including undergraduate medical education, post-graduate training and medical research. The Foundations grantmaking practices align with the tenets of osteopathic medicine, including the comprehensive approach to diagnosis and treatment, while focusing on wellness and disease prevention.

Working cooperatively with other agencies and organizations, the Foundations identify mission-related needs that can be significantly impacted by investing financial and other resources. Collaborative efforts are then initiated with the most appropriate partners to address the identified needs. Rather than duplicating existing services, effort is made to support organizations already addressing the targeted issues, often through a Request for Proposals (RFP) or Invitation to Submit (ITS) process. Generally, the Foundations do not accept unsolicited grant requests.
