Funding Collaboratives
 

The Osteopathic Heritage Foundations seek funding collaboratives that extend impact and resources to address community priorities and advance osteopathic medicine. The following are examples of the funding collaboratives for which the Foundations provide leadership and resources.

Research Funding Collaboration

The Research Funding Collaboration is a national partnership between the American Osteopathic Association’s Council on Research and the Osteopathic Heritage Foundation. Research funding is designed to support quality scientific research, as a critical part of improving health care, through the promotion of osteopathic medicine. Leveraged funding will investigate issues that will lead to enhanced medical care as well as a better understanding and more effective application of the principles and practices of osteopathic medicine.

Community Health Funders Collaborative

The Community Health Funders’ Collaborative is a philanthropic partnership of the Columbus Foundation, Columbus Medical Association Foundation, Osteopathic Heritage Foundation and United Way of Central Ohio. It was created to sustain community health improvement through focused initiatives and leveraged funding. A guiding principal of the collaborative is to serve as a complement to each organization's funding efforts. It will invest in efforts addressing issues involving health and that demonstrate improvements to the community infrastructure which make it easier for residents to eat healthy foods and engage in physical activity. The expected long-term goal is that all residents of Franklin County, Ohio will eat healthy foods, engage in physical activity and lead more healthy and productive lives.

Capacity Building Initiative

The Capacity Building Initiative: Strengthening Growing Organizations is designed to build the organizational capacity of area nonprofits, with an emphasis on small to mid-sized organizations. The Capacity Building Initiative is a collaborative among The Columbus Foundation, Franklin County Board of Commissioners, Fifth Third Bank, Grange Insurance Companies, Ingram-White Castle Foundation, Osteopathic Heritage Foundation, United Way of Central Ohio, and The Women's Fund of Central Ohio. The intent of this initiative is to provide learning resources and assistance that helps an organization effectively carry out its mission and deliver services at its optimum level in response to community needs. As a result of successfully completing capacity building activities, an organization should improve functioning in areas such as planning, board governance, financial management, operations, human resources, resource development, programs, evaluation, public awareness and collaboration.

Neighborhood Partnership Grants Program

The Neighborhood Partnership Grants Program is a funding collaborative which includes The Columbus Foundation, United Way of Central Ohio, Bob Evans, National City Bank (now known as PNC), and the Osteopathic Heritage Foundation. The purpose of the collaborative is to support grass roots organizations, neighborhood associations and small community non-profits to engage residents and increase community volunteerism in low and moderate income areas of Franklin County, Ohio. Projects are intended to be achievable in a single year, be resident driven and support activities in economic development, public education and community awareness, crime prevention and safe and decent housing.
