The Foundations seek the following overarching outcomes as a result of grantmaking investments in osteopathic medical research:
- Demonstrating the efficacy of osteopathic medical care and advancing the principles of osteopathic medicine.
- Improving upon the methods to identify health disorders and their causes.
- Enhancing diagnostic and treatment modalities.
- Advancing the values of osteopathic medicine offered to the community at-large.
- Increasing the amount and the quality of medical research conducted by osteopathic physicians.
- Advocating efforts that result in additional support and leveraged resources for osteopathic medical research.
- Enhancing and expanding collaborative research activities within and among academic institutions.
National Researcher Addresses 2010 Ohio Osteopathic Symposium Attendees
Researcher John Licciardone, DO, MS, MBA professor and executive director of The Osteopathic Research Center at the University of North Texas Health Science Center/Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine delivered the J.O. Watson Lecture during the Ohio Osteopathic Symposium. The presentation features findings from the NAMCS study funded by the Foundation to make evidence-based recommendations for positioning, promoting and revitalizing osteopathic medicine within the emerging health care reform environment. BioMed Central Awards Ohio University Researchers for Excellence in Open Access Research
Foundation-sponsored research was selected as the Editor's Pick for BioMed Central's 4th annual research awards for excellence in open access research.
