Expanding Health Care Options for Southeastern Ohio

Through a funding partnership, the Osteopathic Heritage Foundation of Nelsonville and the Alcohol, Drug Addiction, and Mental Health Services Board (317 Board) serving Athens, Hocking and Vinton counties in Ohio, are pleased to announce the approval of $242,800 in funding to support the integration of behavioral health and primary care services for vulnerable populations in southeastern Ohio. Click here to learn more about the partnership.

Foundation Approves $72,600 to Improve Access to Healthy Foods

The Osteopathic Heritage Foundation of Nelsonville approved $72,600 in approvals to improve access to healthy foods in southeastern Ohio. These approvals demonstrate the Foundation's commitment to improving health and quality of life in southeastern Ohio by advancing strategies and innovations designed to measurably increase the accessibility, availability and affordability of healthy foods, especially for low-income, vulnerable populations.

Foundation Supports Largest Osteopathic Trial Involving Osteopathic Manual Therapy (OMT) – Results Promising

Under the leadership of Dr. John Licciardone, with support from the Foundation, a recent study from the Osteopathic Research Center at the University of North Texas Health Science Center, Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine finds that patients receiving OMT were more likely than patients receiving sham OMT to achieve moderate and substantial improvements for chronic low back pain. Foundation Funds Groundbreaking Medical Research

The Biomarker Discovery Center at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey School of Osteopathic Medicine was awarded a three-year, $799,800 grant from the Osteopathic Heritage Foundation to develop a blood test to diagnose mild cognitive impairment (MCI) caused by early-stage Alzheimer's disease and affects nearly one in every five adults older than 65.
