Rural Advisory Council
In 2008, the Foundation partnered with the Coalition on Homelessness and Housing in Ohio (COHHIO) to develop an Ohio Rural Advisory Council (RAC). The RAC is comprised of representatives from across the State and function to achieve the following objectives:
- Advise COHHIO on state and federal level public policies that effect homelessness and housing in Ohio’s rural counties.
- Advise COHHIO on system change needs that address the macro issues of housing and homelessness issues.
- Plan rural convening’s and other rural technical assistance that would address the training needs of rural homelessness and housing providers, including networking, evidenced-based research, program development and implementation, and other issues that uniquely effect rural communities.
- Assist COHHIO to develop capacity building in rural communities to apply for and receive funding for homelessness and housing projects.
- Advocate for rural areas in funding allocations at both state and federal level.
