In 1998, the asset sale of the Doctors Hospital system to OhioHealth provided an influx of funds into the renamed Osteopathic Heritage Foundation. Since then, the Foundation has approved over $267 million in funding awards to nearly 600 organizations, advancing a mission to improve health and quality of life in the community through education, research and service consistent with our osteopathic heritage. In recognition of this milestone, the Foundation’s 25 Years of Service and Impact Initiative provided support to organizations addressing critical health and human service needs in central and southeastern Ohio.
Through the initiative, the Foundation approved $7.7 million, investing in organizations and projects focused on disease prevention, health promotion and improved health outcomes. From increasing the healthcare workforce to expanding services addressing the behavioral health needs of vulnerable populations, 38 organizations received support to increase access to health-promoting services.
